Morphology
Stroma: 

Stromata 50-70 mm in height, 1.5-3 mm in diameter, clavate, in clusters, occasionally more than one arising from the same fruiting body of Elaphomyces.  Fertile area distinct from stipe, cylindrical, 25-40 x 15-42 mm, punctate with ostioles, orange to reddish-brown, with aperithecial tip (2-2.5 mm in length).

Perithecia: 

Perithecia globoid or ovoid, 250-400 x 300-500 um, pseudoimmersed, irregularly dispersed. 

Asci: 

Asci cylindrical, gradually narrowing below, 90-250 x 7-8 um.

Ascospores: 

Ascospores hyaline, disarticulating into partspores which are 3-3.5 x 2-2.5 um.
