Commentary: 

 Ongoing molecular research in our lab suggests that this species O. gracilis is a species-complex, and some of this diversity is almost certainly attributed to its broad distribution (see above).  All data thus far suggests that the North American isolates of O. gracilis are likely a different species than those sampled from Europe and Asia.
