Morphology
Stroma: 

Stromata capitate, arising from fruiting body (truffle) of Elaphomyces.  Fertile area globose, 1.8-2 mm in diameter, minutely mammilate, black, and distinctly separated from stipe.  Stipe cylindrical, 90 mm in height, 0.8 mm wide, and dark green.

Perithecia: 

Perithecia ovoid, immersed, 400 x 250 um. 

Asci: 

Asci 3.5 mm wide, with apical cap measuring 3.0-3.5 um in diameter. 

Ascospores: 

Ascospores disarticulating into partspores, which are 6 x 1.5 um and truncate.
