Morphology
Stroma: 

Stromata simple, somewhat curved, 20-25 mm in total length, dark olivaceous to almost black, caespitose on adult cicada.  Stipe cylindrical, equal, 10-15 x 1.5 mm, smooth or slightly scabrous.  Fertile area cylindrical, equal to clavate, 6-12 x 1.8-2.5 mm, obscurely defined from stipe. 

 
Perithecia: 

Perithecia completely immersed, ovoid, dark brown, 400-460 x 270-290 um, with protruding ostioles,

Asci: 

Asci 220-270 x 4-5 um.  Apical cap 3-4 um in diameter.

Ascospores: 

Ascospores disarticulating into partspores.  Partspores cylindrical, very thin, 6-10 x 1-1.2 um, truncated on both ends.

Ecology
Host or Substrate: 

On adult cicada.  Reported on Oncotympana maculaticollis and Tibicen japonicus
